Language Assignment

Learning goal: We are learning to analyze elements of various media forms.

Watch these two films that are based on Edgar Allan Poe's The Tell-Tale Heart. Answer this question in a Google doc and share with me.
What choices do the film-makers make to take the story from something you read to something you view? Are the choices effective, how so? Focus on elements like

  • music (follow the link to find descriptive words, only use words that you are comfortable with)
  • graphics, animation, action
  • narration (think about the volume, pitch, pace, tone)
  • details of the story to omit/add/change
  • transitions (how the story moves from scene to scene)

Writing task due Friday

March 8 was International Women's Day which celebrated women's achievement and called for greater equality with men. This week I want you to begin to explore this new inquiry question on your own.

How have things changed, and how have they remained the same for women?

Here are two pages to start your exploration.
